What a great movie.

This movie made outrunning the cops look too easy.

A pair of girlfriends helped me celebrate turning 21 by taking me along on a Trans-Am club Smokey and the Bandit "fun run" from Texarkana TX to the old Lakewood Speedway site in Atlanta, and back again. We had several different Diablo Sandwiches, gorged on biscuits and sausage gravy in Mississippi, hauled home (Rochester NY) 6 cases of Alabama-bought Coors, and enjoyed the famous Southern hospitality.

I remember when I got my first CAT Diesel Power hat and I can remember when you could jack a 425 CAT with a screw driver…. That’s when 425 was “Big Power”.

Those aren’t the original sounds of the car and truck…I hate the newer dubbed audio.

Jerry Reid was more correct. A random scratch pad is unbreakable though having enough receivers will make hear everything.

Saw it in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the big screen. Just ausome like Ghostbusters and Top gun on the big screen as well.

I saw The Empire Strikes Back in the theatre but this would have been a decent choice too.

I hope every man has his bandit , and his Fred …..and his frog…..and what the hell, as long as you get out in front of it, his sheriff, too.

I bought one of these Trans Ams, only to find out they were not quite as fast as the one in the movie. Also, once it the body started falling apart, it was a real s#it show. The power train was rock solid and sometimes I miss the ol' girl.

Whenever anyone mentions “Smokey and The Bandit” it puts a smile on my face “Cletus, ‘ya got your ears on, Son…!?”

We finally got one. A black one with the bird on the hood. A stick. It was in rough shape but I got to drive that thing like I stole it up the one lane highway to our house, passing everyone. It was a childhood dream. We sold it to guy who rotary restored it and put it through Barrett Jackson so it got a second life. I’ve also always wanted to get my hand on a 68 Dodge Charger but no way do I have the money for that. I’ll always remember that drive. Jamming gears and listening to the engine roar. I was pregnant with my son at the time. He loves Smokey and The Bandit and can’t believe he was technically in The Bandit’s car. 😂

Fun fact. When she realizes how fast they're driving and proclaims "110!", the speedometer is actually a Canadian version, 110 kph. Stop the video, it's very obvious. 😅

Movies like this had no special effects and never even got nominated for an academy award but people loved them.

I don't really buy the cb channel scheme. Bufford and everyone else with a cb seemed to be on the same channel as the bandit on a regular basis.

Smokey and the Bandit is top 10 all time. Others: Lonesome Dove, Tombstone, Training Day, The Dark Knight Rises, Urban Cowboy, Let’s Do it Again

People don’t talk about how well this movie holds up. Not only as a movie, but how it’s shot. If this was HD, you’d think it came out yesterday

it's hard to believe that this movie was the 2nd highest grossing movie of 1977, second only to Star Wars.. But what a choice, eastbound and down or travel to a galaxy far, far away.
